Once upon a time, on the north shore of Long Island, some 30 miles from New York, there lived a small girl on a large estate…

Sabrina

I recently got a 3 pack of movies from target to add to my classic movie collection. It was a set of Audrey Hepburn movies, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday and Sabrina, the only one I had yet to see. Needless to say, any man that can pull off the name Humphrey while playing a character named Linus, as well as Mr. Bogart did, would win my heart too.

the silver seas – the country life

her momma thinks i’m made out of money
her daddy thinks we need more time
sister’s got her own opinion
calling her on the other line

i ain’t tryin’ to say they’re crazy
i don’t want to say they’re wrong
i ain’t tryin’ to complicate it
i just want to sing my song

so long, to the city life
so long, to the neon sign
i’m gone, i’ll trade the trouble and the strife
for the country life

if i could get in touch with my cousin
maybe we could go away for awhile
if we ever wanna come back
girl, you know we gonna be back in style

27 hours later
we go buy a couple bottles of wine
we don’t need the conversation
cause tonight we goin’ back in time

so long, to the city life
so long, to the neon sign
i’m gone, i’ll trade the trouble and the strife
so long, to the city life
so long, to the neon sign
i’m gone, i’ll trade the trouble and the strife
for the country life

for the country life (for the country life)

i love these guys! they used to be known as the bees, but because they shared the name with a british band, they recently switched to the silver seas. whatever they are known as, their music just makes me feel good and makes me want to jump up and dance! for anyone who knows me, that is a huge accomplishment in itself! another one of their songs “imaginary girl” has been all over tv on different commercials, so i am just trying to do my part in spreading the word on this great band.

i can’t wait to get out of l.a. soon enough :)

Had a nice weekend exploring Boston and hanging out with friends. Got a chance to see one of them off today before heading back home which was nice. I made a stop to see if I could find any Polaroid film and ended up getting a 3 pack of Audrey Hepburn classics!! So now of course, I am gushing over Roman Holiday and wishing I could be there myself having a wonderfully fantastic and spontaneous adventure with someone like Gregory Peck! Haha. Maybe one day. For now I have the adventures of Princess Ann and Bradley to entertain me in my dreams…

Been out of it for a while now, sorry. I like being busy at home, even if the thing keeping me busy is cuddling with my cats and watching snow fall.

Home has been better than the first few days. So far, I have been able to see a lot of my friends and do enough of the winter-y things I like. Not nearly enough skating, sledding or snowman making, but that will have to change!

Christmas parties are fun, dumb drama is just that, dumb and I am doing my best to ignore it. New Years is coming up fast so plans must be made and it looks to be a better one than normal which is good.

On a completely separate note, have I mentioned how much I LOVE She & Him? And Zooey Deschanel in particular?? Because I do, very much so. Like a wicked lot! Haha. I recommend checking out their CD, Volume 1, they have some great covers of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, “I Should Have Known Better” and “You Really Gotta Hold on Me”. But my favorites are “Sweet Darlin’”, “I Was Made For You” and “Sentimental Heart”. So, to start off this week on a good note I give you the video for their single off of Volume 1, “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?”:

a little Charlie Brown to go with the snow fall here in the Shire:

I thought the impending snow storm would be my biggest worry, but I guess there were other plans.

O well, you just have to go with the flow.

I am just going to try my best and enjoy the winter snow fall, and maybe get lucky and find a holiday job! Let’s hope for the best :)

OOO on a good note, looks like the University finally came to their senses and I will be able to get credit for last semester! YAY!

Up next, I get back to my Daily Holiday Video trend with some words from Linus…

Double Daily Holiday Video!!!

December 16, 2008

Ugh…it was definitely a Monday, that’s for sure. The good news is that at least I wasn’t triple-dog-dared to stick my tongue on a frozen flag pole!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE A Christmas Story! Definitely in my top 3 favorite holiday movies. One day I will have my own leg lamp, one day.

I also caught up with my cousin and now have the perfect gift ideas for my friends. They should help to serve double duty and provide for a fun filled (and cheap!) new years :)

It’s still raining in Los Angeles, and I LOVE IT! Finally a change in pace and I like having cooler weather for the cooler months. I should be careful driving those, cause these LA-ers get crazy bad when there is a little water on the ground.

Today, I have to turn in a final and paper, take model photos and hopefully meet with some Dean to get stuff figured out. Then back to finish the portfolio and I will be DONE for the semester!

So, since it is Monday, and raining in LA and snowing and who knows what else around the world, I figured you might need a little music to help start the day off right. Here is PS22 to wish you a happy Monday:

So far so good! I am actually staying on top of things and posting something everyday :)

Another day closer to going home, and hopefully all the power will be restored by the time i get back! It’s too cold for this many people to be without heat.

I think I might take a break tonight from finals work and take the kitty christmas card picture! haha, should be a fun time.

So, without further adieu, here is your holiday cheer:

Winter break is almost here! I just have to finish my portfolio, of which I have been HORRIBLE about procrastinationg from getting it done, turn in a final, pack and tie up the random loose ends before I fly out next week. I really can’t wait to be home. A huge ice storm just hit and it has been causing lots of problems, so hopefully we will get a little more snow and a lot less ice as the winter goes on.

Anyway, I should get back to working on my school stuff but I wanted to actually follow through with my new blogging plan for once! So to celebrate another holiday movie on tv, here is a great scene from Elf, with my favorite holiday song sung by one of my favorite actresses/musicians Zooey Deschanel:
